A line of storms brought 1,500 lightning strikes every minute, affecting the Hostess City on Friday night.
Lightning struck a tree on West 41st Street, shattering the base and falling down onto a house.
Luckily no one was hurt, but the family who lives here had to leave for the night, their power was cut and their roof sagging.
Ruben Walker was in the backyard exercising when the lightning struck. He was just 15 feet away from the tree.
"I did see this big bolt of lightning just right behind me," he said. "And so I stopped motion from jogging and just shot in the house."
The family who lives at the house also escaped injury. They were home when the tree came down.
As for Walker, he said this is the last time he goes out jogging in a thunderstorm.
