A pit bull running loose in the Silver Pines subdivision in southwest Shreveport reportedly bit an officer in the hand, who then shot the dog in the paw. SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport police officer is headed to the hospital with a dog bite, after an encounter with a pit bull running loose in a southwest Shreveport neighborhood. 

It happened just after 4 p.m. in the Silver Pines subdivision. The officer was following the dog when it reportedly turned on her and bit her hand. She was able to shoot the dog in the paw. 

The dog has been picked up by Caddo Animal Control and its owner has been cited for allowing the animal to run loose, as well has having no records of vaccination.
