SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Louisiana Republican Senator David Vitter said it's time for U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki to resign.

Vitter joins a growing list of lawmakers who feel it's time for Shinseki to step aside so more aggressive work can begin to get to the bottom of the VA scandal.

A recent inspector general report indicates secret waiting lists, meant to hide how long some veterans have had to wait to see a doctor. It also indicates that some top hospital administrators may have been motivated by financial bonuses to reduce wait times.

In the report, some hospital schedulers claim their bosses instructed them to manipulate the lists to hide long waiting times.

If bonuses are tied to these alleged actions,  Vitter feels this reaches a criminal level and some should face prosecution in the courts.
