Funeral services set for boy drowned in Benton lake

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Services for a young boy who drowned in a Benton park last weekend have been scheduled.

Dawton Smith, 7, will be remembered at a wake from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Rose-Neath Southside, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the same location.

Officials say the boy wandered away from his family on Sunday during a Memorial Day outing at the Cypress Black Bayou Park and Recreation Area. His death was ruled as an accidental drowning on Tuesday.
