SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police say tips led to the quick arrest of a local man wanted for allegedly stealing access cards from patrons of the downtown YMCA.

Investigators were asking for help in finding 19-year-old Martin Robinson, 19. Police say Robinson took the cards on February 15 and used those cards to purchase items without the owners' permission.  A warrant had been issued for Robinson with $20,000 bond on a charge of unauthorized use of an access card.

Police say that within minutes of Robinson's name and face being broadcast at Noon, Crime Stoppers received the first tip from a concerned citizen who advised the suspect was currently working at a local eatery on Youree Drive. SPD officers were dispatched to that location only to find Robinson had fled the scene after receiving text messages about his appearance on the news.

Later in the afternoon, Crime Stoppers received additional information on Robinson via text message which lead police to the 100 block of Clearbrooke Drive where they found and arrested Johnson.

Crime Stoppers Coordinator Sgt. Jim Taliaferro said, "while Crime Stopper's attributes much of its success to keeping its promise of anonymity to our tipsters when they report information; another just as valuable part in the process is the Crime Stopper's TRIAD, getting the message out to the public and hopefully closing a case.  This proven method involves the working relationship between the media, the community and law enforcement to achieve maximum success.  It is an equation, much like the three legged stool, take any one component out, the process collapses."

Crime Stoppers will pay the tipster $400.00 for the information which lead to the arrest of Robinson.
