No matter what your plans are this Memorial Day, retail companies may have plans of their own and their biggest goal is to get you in their doors.
Stores are boasting huge sales, and they're bringing in the customers. Some stores are boasting sales up to 50 percent off everything in the store.
"They have a 50 percent off sale, so I made sure I took advantage of that," says Deanthony Lewis.
Lewis came to Old Navy on Youree Drive after hearing about the store's sale.
According to a survey published by RetailMeNot, 79 percent of Americans use the long weekend to make purchases.
There is also a high-tech way to keep up with sales. An app called Sale Sorter is available for Androids and iPhones. The app shows you which stores near you have sales and how long those sales will last.
But just because of the deep discounts, not every shopper is out to catch a sale.
"Certain people will come out for the sales, but I think it is just primarily Thanksgiving and Christmas," says Dustin Lincoln, who only came out to pick up a few items.
Sunday is also the last day to stock up on tax-free hurricane supplies. Louisiana will waive the 4 percent state sales tax on certain items.
The sales tax holiday began yesterday and ends midnight tonight. City and parish taxes may still apply.
