HAUGHTON, LA (KSLA) -
Haughton Buccaneers head football coach Rodney Guin returned home Saturday after suffering a massive heart attack last month.

Coach Guin had the heart attack back on April 25 and underwent surgery the following day. At one point, it was believed that the 53-year-old would need a transplant, but that changed as Guin began to recover.

On Saturday afternoon, almost a month to the day after his heart attack, Guin was all smiles as he arrived home and was greeted by close family and friends.

Guin says there is still work to do."I am getting stronger everyday," said Guin, regarding his rehab after his heart attack. "A week ago we couldn't take a step hardly but today we are out walking around and feeling good, we still have some work to do but we are going to get it done."

His daughter Maggie Guin was thrilled by her father's health progressing so fast. "He's walking on his own. He's not even suppose to be here for a couple of months."

The first item on his agenda is to get some rest and kick back in his recliner. Then, according to Guin, it's back to work. "Its good medicine for us to get home and continue our rehab and you know hopefully things will progress so I can get back to 100%."

Guin has won more games than any other coach in Haughton's school history.
