High Dollar Homes: Three Rivers Estate

Updated:
COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) -

The home is stunning. The grounds are amazing. Some call the Three Rivers Estate in Covington one of the finest in the South.

"This is actually about 10,000 square feet, and it doesn't feel that big because the rooms are so inviting," said Jennifer Rice of Dorian Bennett Sotheby's International Realty.

A trickling fountain welcomes you to a paradise in the woods: a Mediterranean dream rising like a castle on the banks of three rivers.

"You've got the Bogue Falaya, the Abita, and the Tchefuncta and they all come together which is why they call this the Three Rivers area. It all leads to the lake," Rice said.

Baton Rouge architect Chris Remson created this work of art. He was charged with blending 18 acres with luxury. Step through the doors and you've arrived in a foyer of marble and stone.

The living room is welcoming in its easy style, filled with treasures from around the world.

"The trumeau was selected to sit above the fireplace and the architect took that as inspiration for the room and it's furnishings," Rice said.

She pointed to French doors, scalloped windows, and wood ceilings that give you the textures that make the house comfortable to live in.

The spectacular view is the focus of every room. The gourmet kitchen with its cool marble counters is warmed by the flood of natural light. The wall color of a muted moss brings the outside in. A sitting room and eating area off the kitchen makes family and casual entertaining easy. A formal dining room off the foyer is dressed for dinner. A round table leads to conversation. Inside the room is a conversation piece.

"On one of their trips they found a castle door and some wine barrels, and the wine room was designed around that."

A library on the other side of the living room is a comfortable retreat that's all business. From here, the homeowners can survey every inch of the property.

"You can probably have as many as six bedrooms in this house," Rice said as she entered a light guest bedroom with Tiffany blue accents.

The master bedroom is on the second floor to take advantage of the views.

"You've got the most beautiful closet you can ever imagine," Rice said.

The overwhelming closet has a department store feel. You can see every piece of clothing with ease. It even has a dry cleaning machine.

Step outside the living room onto a portico that is grand in scale. Step into a wonderland of water. Carved stone is throughout the resort-style back yard. An infinity pool is a symbol that there are no limits here.

"You're completely private. You have the gated entrance in the front water on two sides, and a row of privacy hedges. The only time you realize you're not on a private island is when a boat comes by."

An open-air pool house is a light spot to relax after a swim, and there's a built-in pizza oven if you're hungry. Outside the front doors of the house is a workout facility to get you in tip-top shape. In back, a tennis court for another amazing workout.

"The people that built this house always had a dream home they wanted to build," Rice said.

There's no reason to leave Three Rivers - everything is here. It makes a statement of what a fusion of design and a passion for living can bring.
