Massive flames swallowed up stacks of wooden pallets Sunday afternoon at a Haughton business, and the owner is trying to pick up the pieces.
It took dozens of firefighters several hours to fight that fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
"It started right here behind me," said J. T. Rankin, owner of Ark-La-Tex Pallets. "Right there in that big pile. It started high. Fire marshals are investigating, trying to figure out what started it 'cause we weren't burning at that time.
"The wind was blowing. I really don't know, this isn't the first time this business caught on fire."
The Bellevue Road business also caught fire in 2003, but Sunday's damage was a lot worse, Rankin said.
Rankin estimates the company's loss at a quarter million dollars.
