Firefighters respond to 2-alarm fire Uptown

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Firefighters responded Monday to a two-alarm fire Uptown.

Fire fighters were dispatched to the 5200 block of Camp Street just after 1:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a two-story, wood-framed double with its entire rear wall engulfed in flames fully involved from the ground to the roof.

A second alarm was called just before 2 p.m. because the fire had to potential to spread to the entire home and nearby structures. 

One of the home's residents said she was in her kitchen she heard and felt what seemed like an explosion coming from one of the two sheds attached to the rear of the house. She fled the house and called  911.

Thirteen NOFD units carrying 43 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at 2:24 p.m. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and there were no injuries.
