MILLER COUNTY, AR (KSLA) -
Texarkana police have arrested the boyfriend of a woman found shot early Friday morning in Miller County.
Officers were called around 6:30 a.m. to the 3700 block of East Street in Texarkana, where they found 23-year-old LaPassion Henry suffering 2 gunshot wounds.
Based on what investigators have pieced together, the shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute that started the night before. According to police, Black tracked Henry down on East Street early Friday morning, finding her sitting in her car there with her cousin.
Police say Black rammed his vehicle into theirs before shooting Henry twice and then jumping into the vehicle with her and fleeing the scene, leaving the cousin behind. It was the cousin who called police.
Henry was airlifted to CHRISTUS St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana. Her current condition has not been released.
Police say Black drove Henry out to Miller County Road 26, where he left her down a roadway and walked back to the main highway and to a nearby home, where he reportedly claimed to have a flat tire and asked to use the phone. After leaving the house and apparently hitching a ride, police spotted him in a truck and pulled it over. That's when he was taken into custody.
Black is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a family or household member, kidnapping, theft of property and criminal attempt - capital murder.
Police ask that anyone with information contact the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department at 903-798-3154 or Texarkana area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
