Two Bossier City mothers are dead this Mother's Day, killed in an apparent double homicide Sunday morning.
Neighbors say they are surprised something like this would happen in their neighborhood.
"I have lived here over two years, over two years. I moved from Flint, Michigan, which is like murder capital, so it is really bad," said Amber Coats. "So I moved to get away from all of this, so to see it right here on my street, you know.
"This is a busy street, there are a lot of kids out here, everyday, all day long. There are a lot of kids. "
The identities of the two victims have not yet been released, but police said they were roommates living in a house in the 3000 block of Bragg Street.
Both have children, and police said they are safe.
One of the women didn't show up for work, and a relative called police about 8:30 a.m. then went to the home and found both dead of apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and trying to develop a suspect or suspects in the case.
