Marshall ISD bond issue voted down

Posted: Updated:
MARSHALL, TX (KSLA) -

Despite an active campaign, voters in Marshall said no to a $150m bond proposal aimed at building new schools and renovating others.

Complete but unofficial results showed the proposal lost by 212 vote, 3,244 to 3,032.

One of the big talking point for the school district was the age of their schools. The plan was to use bond money to build four new elementary schools, a new junior high school, and renovate the high school and Maverick Stadium.

It's unclear what the next step will be for the school district.

Marshall voters did approve a measure that would allow restaurants to sell mixed drinks.
