SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport police officer has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest on a single count of simple battery.

25-year-old LaBrian Marsden was arrested on an outstanding warrant procured by Shreveport Police detectives Friday afternoon.

LaBrian Marsden 25, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an outstanding warrant charging him with a single count of Simple Battery.

According to a brief statement issued by SPD Friday afternoon, "The rules and regulations of the Shreveport Fire and Police Municipal Civil Service Board mandate that, 'When an employee is charged with a felony he shall, and if a misdemeanor he may, be immediately relieved of duty and placed on 'departmental leave' for up to one week at full pay and with continuing seniority.'"

The statement does not provide details surrounding the circumstances of the simple battery charge or when the alleged crime took place.
