SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport man now faces an armed robbery charge after he allegedly demanded money Wednesday evening from a cash register of a local business.

Police said Xavier Anderson, 34, entered the Dollar General store in the 4600 block of Mansfield Road wearing dark clothes and a mask on his face, and armed with a gun. He allegedly demanded the clerk open the register, took the money and fled the scene.

Police were not sure how much money had been stolen at the time, but they were able to gather Anderson's description and that of a vehicle thought to have been involved.

Shortly after the incident, patrol spotted a vehicle traveling in the 2500 block of Midway Avenue, looking much like the one they were looking for. They found Anderson inside the vehicle along with evidence from the robbery.

He was arrested and is being held at the Shreveport City Jail.

Police believe Anderson acted alone in the robbery.
