TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Relief is on the way when it comes to those annoying potholes in and around the city of Toledo. City officials are calling the increased focus on fixing the potholes that has plagued the city "the pothole blitz."

Corey is a Jimmy John's delivery driver and he just recently spent hundreds of dollars fixing his vehicle which was damaged by potholes.

"You're worried about whether I'm going to get a flat tire and you hear it when it happens. Wow it's like they need to fix these potholes," said Corey.

More crew members from the Streets, Bridges and Harbors Department are now out working on repairing the roadways.

"What we've done is suspended a lot of spring programs like street-sweep and alley cleaning and put everybody back on the potholes so we can catch up," said David Welch, Commissioner, Toledo Streets, Bridges and Harbors Department.

That's music to the ears of many drivers.

"I see that they are doing the work and I think that's great," said Corey.

50,000 potholes have been fixed and there are at least another 50,000 to go. City officials say they will be filling the potholes through the summer.
