CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Police Department unveiled a new vehicle on Wednesday designed to assist officers in fighting crime.

A new three-wheeled standup electric vehicle was unveiled Wednesday. The T3 Motion electric standup vehicle (ESV) is a zero-gas-emission, green innovation with a 360 turn radius. Officers say the vehicles will increase visibility and are more effective than walking, providing more accessibility.

The vehicle can travel speeds up to 30 mph and can traverse sidewalks, streets, and inside large open areas within buildings. The vehicles are currently used by police departments, military units and security companies around the world including the Los Angeles Police Department and the United States Air Force.

"As we look forward to several major conventions such as the Urban League, next year's All Star Game, and future events such as the RNC Convention, we are looking for ways to increase efficiencies and visibility for improved service delivery," says Chief Jeffrey Blackwell.

The vehicles will be tested for a three month and six month period in the Central Business District, The Banks, Downtown as well as some of the neighborhood business districts.

Once completely outfitted, officers say each T3 vehicle costs between $11,000 - $12,000.
