A Hamilton County grand jury has indicted an Avondale man on one count each of aggravated murder, murder and endangering a child in connection with the death of a 3-month-old baby last month.

Around 9 p.m. April 28, authorities were called to the 3400 block of McFarlan Road after receiving reports of a non-responsive infant. The child was transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Shavale Johnson, 24, was initially charged with endangering children. Johnson struck the child with a closed fist causing serious physical harm, according to court documents.

The Hamilton County Coroner's office ruled the death of the infant a homicide on April 29.

Johnson is lodged in the Hamilton County Justice Center.
