HARRISON, OH (FOX19) -

A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway in Hamilton, Ohio.

Officers received reports that a pedestrian was stuck around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday night. Crews were dispatched to the Main Street Bridge.

Officers arriving on the scene say that Wade Carpenter, 61, was lying in the roadway. Police say he was struck by an eastbound vehicle, driven by 52-year-old Effie Baker, while attempting to cross the roadway. Officials say Carpenter was not in a crosswalk.

Carpenter was transported to the University Hospital Medical Center via Air Care. His condition is listed as critical.

Officers say that charges are not anticipated at this time. They say Carpenter could be charged with pedestrian traffic violations for his actions in the future.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone who might have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Hamilton Police Traffic Section at 513-868-5811 ext. 2008.
