DEQUEEN, AR (KSLA) -

A third nursing home worker has been arrested in connection with the alleged abuse of an elderly man at an Sevier County facility.

31-year-old Ryan Hawthorn is charged with abuse of an endangered or impaired person, stemming from an investigation at the Brookewood Nursing Center in the 300 block of West Collin Raye Drive in DeQueen.

Two other employees have already been arrested in connection with the alleged abuse, which police have not detailed other than to say that the investigation was prompted by a call from concerned family members of the victim.

John Halper, 24 of DeQueen and Trenton Hamm, 24 of Wickes, AR are also charged with abuse of an endangered or impaired person, which is a felony.

DeQueen Police Chief Richard McKinley told KSLA News 12 following the earlier arrests that they did not believe there were other suspects, and noted that Brookewood was cooperating with the investigation. McKinley also said they had no reason to believe there are any other victims.

Brookewood has declined to comment on the matter.
