DeSoto mother arrested after deputies find meth in infant's diaper

Two women were arrested in DeSoto Parish Monday after police allegedly found methamphetamine in the diaper of a child during a traffic stop.

According to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office, an agent with the Tri Parish Narcotics Task Force stopped a vehicle after they saw Cecelia Carter put a child into the vehicle without a proper restraint. The task force had received a Crime Stoppers tip that Carter had been using meth in front of her 3-month-old child.

Deputies said during the traffic stop, a friend of Carter arrived and changed the child's diaper. At that time, agents saw a one-gram bag of crystal meth stuck to the child's buttocks. The child was taken to DeSoto Regional Hospital for observation. The Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services is investigating further.

Carter was charged with possession of schedule II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of CDS in the presence of a minor and no proper child passenger restraint system, police said.

The driver, Linda Walker, was also arrested and charged with driving under suspension.
