Sunshine reigns over final day of Jazz Fest

A cloudless sky gleamed overhead and a gentle breeze cooled a sea of music lovers on the final day of Jazz Fest.

"We are so lucky, this is one of those golden years, those golden, beautiful moments when the weather's beautiful the entire time," says Courtney Bullock of New Orleans.

Tens of thousands of people roamed the Fair Grounds Sunday.

They soaked up the sun and the final notes of this year's Fest coming from every stage.

Over at the Moisant Kiwanis drink tent, the day looked to be another strong one for sales.

The money raised over the two weekends supports a number of local charities.

"We have about 20 different projects with the Moisant Kiwanis that every dollar that we raise here goes right back into the community," says Ty Guidroz.

Though Sunday was the last day of Jazz Fest 2014, volunteers with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival Foundation made it clear to visitors, the music plays on all year.

"It's not just Jazz Fest, it's a year round effort," says volunteer KC Whiteley.

"The festival is going to be over with today but the year is just beginning," says Stan Howat, another volunteer. "There's always something going on, there's always another plan for the future."

That means there's much to look forward to, this year and beyond.
