TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

An Texarkana, TX mother says her 4-year-old son's school failed to notify her when the buses didn't run on time Thursday, leaving her to wonder where her child was.

Candice Owens says her son, Aaron is in Pre-K at Dunbar Early Education Center, and when he didn't arrive home at his normal time of 3:15 p.m., she headed to the school. She says they told her that 2 bus drivers failed to show up to run their routes, and that caused a delay.

"As parents, we received no notification from the school that there would be an issue of transporting our children home and when I called the school, we never got a direct answer," says Owens. "I never got a direct answer as to where my son was, if he was still at the school, if he was on his regular bus, or a different bus."

School officials say they have a way of notifying parents, but in this case, buses would have finished their routes before all parents could be contacted.

Owens says her son will no longer ride the bus.
