Ex-prosecutors Perricone, Mann barred from court

Updated:

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - After admitting they made anonymous online comments about federal cases, two former federal prosecutors will avoid additional discipline by agreeing never to practice law in the federal court covering southeast Louisiana.

Chief U.S. District Judge Sarah Vance on Thursday unsealed brief orders signed by other judges on March 25 for Jan Mann and April 3 for Sal Perricone.

Mann and Perricone had asked the court to permanently strike them from its list of attorneys licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court's Eastern District of Louisiana in lieu of other discipline.

Judges were informed April 24 that a Justice Department investigation of their activities was complete.

Mann and Perricone acknowledged in 2012 that they posted anonymous comments about cases at The Times-Picayune's website NOLA.com.

Both resigned.
