HAMILTON, ON, May 1, 2014 /CNW/ - The Directors College, Canada's first university-accredited corporate director development program, is expanding the delivery of its Chartered Director program to British Columbia and Nova Scotia through two new partnerships.
Beginning this summer, the Chartered Director program will be delivered in Vancouver and Halifax through partnerships with Executive Education at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business and with Dalhousie University's Faculty of Management. This national expansion increases regional access to the same program offered in Ontario and Quebec.
The Directors College, a joint venture of The Conference Board of Canada and the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, offers participants a Chartered Director (C. Dir.) designation upon completion of the five-module program.
The Chartered Director program focuses on practical governance issues, as well as the cultural and behavioural aspects of good governance. Board members and senior executives gain understanding of both the processes and behaviours that underpin today's best practices in corporate governance.
Under these new partnerships, participants will be able to complete any of the five modules that make up the Chartered Director program in Vancouver or Halifax. The first offering in Vancouver will be Module 1 in July. The first program to be offered in Halifax will occur in October.
Participants also can continue to attend modules in Ontario, or through our affiliate, Le Collège des Administrateurs de Sociétés (CAS) in Quebec. These new partnerships will give participants greater regional choice and flexibility to schedule their completion of the program at a customized pace and will provide participants with opportunities to build a broader network of relationships.
"Our strong partner organizations and sponsors recognize the strategic value of shared expertise in governance and executive education. We are thrilled to leverage The Directors College's considerable knowledge and relationships with its faculty, sponsors, alumni and to gain new synergies with UBC's and Dalhousie's communities and corporate connections," said Dr. Chris Bart, Lead Faculty, The Directors College.
