KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

A Kenner man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly burglarizing several cars, including  a Louisiana State DPS police unit.

Kendall Turner, 32, was booked with simple burglary of a law enforcement vehicle and three counts of simple burglary.

On April 15, the Kenner Police Department responded to four vehicle burglaries in the 4100 blocks of Delaware and Florida Avenue in Kenner. The windows of the cars had been shattered, and an assault rifle, tools and car stereos were taken.

Turner was arrested without incident after being located in Kenner. During his interview, police said Turner admitted he had been involved in car burglaries in which stereo equipment was removed from vehicles.  When questioned about the stolen assault rifle, Turner said he had thrown it in the river. Turner works as a radio installer for various used car dealerships, and is a suspect in other vehicle burglaries.

Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway is asking anyone with information about Turner – including anyone who has purchased or car stereo installed by him –to contact Detective Harold Pendergast at (504) 712-2226. The assault rifle has not been located.

Assisting police agencies were the Louisiana State Police and U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Regional Task Force.

Turner remains in custody; no bond has been set.
