KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -
An East Texan was arrested Wednesday for allegedly taking pictures of a man in the restroom of a Walmart.
The Kilgore Police Department says an arrest warrant was issued for 27-year-old Devin Rhett Butler, a Kilgore resident, for improper photography.
On April 24, a male victim told police that two days earlier he was inside a bathroom stall at Walmart in Kilgore when he noticed Butler holding a cell phone underneath the stall. The victim believed he was taking photographs. The victim then chased Butler from the bathroom but was unable to catch him.
The victim reported the incident to Walmart and Butler was fired.
After interviews with witnesses and reviews of other evidence, investigators determined that Butler had been taking pictures of the victim using his cell phone. On Wednesday, an arrest and search warrant was issued for Butler.
Butler was found at his parent's house and taken into custody.
Police are still investigating whether or not this was an isolated event.
Walmart released this statement on Wednesday:
As soon as management became aware of the situation, we contacted law enforcement and the associate was terminated. We are continuing to look into this, but what from what we have learned at this time, it appears to be an isolated incident.
