E. Texas city earns national storm preparedness honor

HOOKS, TX (KSLA) -

A Texas city has been honored for being prepared for storms.

The National Weather Service has recognized Red River Army Depot, in Hooks, Texas as a storm-ready community.

The announcement was made this afternoon. This makes the Red River Army Depot the first Texas military installation to receive that recognition.

To be a storm-ready community you must have a 24-hour warning and emergency operation center have more than one way to receive severe weather forecast and warnings and to alert the public.

A NWS spokesperson says no community is storm proof but storm readiness can help save lives.
