People spending money on home staging in an effort to get top dollar for a house need to rethink the investment.
A group of researchers talked to hundreds of homebuyers who took virtual tours of one home.
Some buyers saw the home without furniture. Other buyers saw the home with furniture considered ugly, good, or unattractive.
By the end of the tours, buyers in all categories were willing to pay about the same price for the property.
Researchers with the College of William and Mary, Old Dominion University and Johns Hopkins University conducted the study.
