Arkansas senator recovering well after heart surgery
Sen. John Boozman, R-AR
LITTLE ROCK, AR (KSLA) -
U.S. Senator John Boozman, R-AR, is recovering after what his office is calling successful heart surgery Tuesday at a hospital in Rogers, AR.
The senator, 63, was taken to Mercy Hospital early Tuesday morning with pain in his chest and shoulder. Doctors diagnosed Boozman with an acute aortic dissection, and he underwent a several-hours long surgery to correct the problem.
The senator responded well to the surgery, and remains in the hospital while continuing to recover, according to a press release from his office. Doctors say he is doing well.
"We appreciate the prayers, kind words and well-wishes that have come from Arkansans and people all across the country," said the Boozman family. "We are grateful for the excellent care the doctors, nurses and medical staff are providing. They are amazed at how well he has responded."
