If you're looking for something Easter-related to do this weekend, here are some best bets for the holiday:
Bass Pro is hosting the Easter Bunny Friday. From 4 to 7 p.m. there will be crafts for kids. Then, from 2 to 7 p.m. the bunny will take photos with kids. Picture time is also from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The first photo is free, but you can buy more for the grandparents's fridge door if you want. There will also be an egg hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for kids ages 2-10.
Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center is getting ready to hatch its third annual egg-stravaganza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be an egg hunt using QR codes and clues. Prizes go to the winners. Cost: $9-$13.
You'll be glad for the complimentary coffee if you plan to head to sunrise service at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton.The Easter service will be in the open amphitheater at 7 a.m., but you might want to arrive a bit early. Tonight, St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton is having a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. There will be an Easter Vigil Mass at 8 Saturday and mass at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. on Sunday.
An unusual Easter event will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday at Little Union Baptist Church. The church will gather to unveil a new historical marker commemorating the visit of Martin Luther King Jr. to Shreveport. Also remembered will be a prayer service on Sept. 22, 1963, where Shreveport police officers interrupted a prayer service for the victims of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham.
The Golf Club at Stonebridge is hosting its own Easter celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be games, prizes, face painting, a bounce house and an egg hunt. Admission: $5 for children. A bunch buffet will be offered: $8.95 for children; $15.95 for adults.
For the pooches, the Shreveport Kennel Club is hosting its annual all-breed dog show at the Bossier Civic Center. Events start at 9 a.m. Saturday; 8 a.m. Sunday and Monday.
