SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

If you're looking for something Easter-related to do this weekend, here are some best bets for the holiday:

  • Bass Pro is hosting the Easter Bunny Friday. From 4 to 7 p.m. there will be crafts for kids. Then, from 2 to 7 p.m. the bunny will take photos with kids. Picture time is also from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The first photo is free, but you can buy more for the grandparents's fridge door if you want. There will also be an egg hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for kids ages 2-10.
  • Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center is getting ready to hatch its third annual egg-stravaganza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be an egg hunt using QR codes and clues. Prizes go to the winners. Cost: $9-$13.
  • You'll be glad for the complimentary coffee if you plan to head to sunrise service at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton. The Easter service will be in the open amphitheater at 7 a.m., but you might want to arrive a bit early. Gevan Spinney, pastor of First Baptist Haughton will officiate. Call 318-949-9415 for more information.
  • Tonight, St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton is having a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. There will be an Easter Vigil Mass at 8 Saturday and mass at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. on Sunday.
  • An unusual Easter event will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday at Little Union Baptist Church. The church will gather to unveil a new historical marker commemorating the visit of Martin Luther King Jr. to Shreveport. Also remembered will be a prayer service on Sept. 22, 1963, where Shreveport police officers interrupted a prayer service for the victims of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham.
  • The Golf Club at Stonebridge is hosting its own Easter celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be games, prizes, face painting, a bounce house and an egg hunt. Admission: $5 for children. A bunch buffet will be offered: $8.95 for children; $15.95 for adults.
  • For the pooches, the Shreveport Kennel Club is hosting its annual all-breed dog show at the Bossier Civic Center. Events start at 9 a.m. Saturday; 8 a.m. Sunday and Monday.
  • Looking for musical events? Centenary College's choir is giving an Easter concert at 6 a.m. Sunday at Hodges Gardens State Park and the Palestine Baptist Church will give a concert at 9 p.m. Friday.
