An emergency service insurance program offered through the Shreveport Fire Department is open for enrollment this Spring.
EMS LifeCare offers Shreveport residents affordable emergency needs, such as ambulance transportation, by covering the uninsured portion of the service. This year's enrollment is open until May 31.
The annual fee for EMS LifeCare is $35 per family. Coverage begins on June 1 of the current year to May 31 of the next year.
The average ambulance cost is between $800 and $1,000, depending on what type of services are provided, according to the city fire department. If you don't have insurance to cover the transport, EMS LifeCare will cover the full cost.
EMS LifeCare coverage applies only to Shreveport Fire Department ambulance transportation.
