Hallsville man dies after Monday morning shooting

HALLSVILLE, TX (KSLA) -

Harrison County deputies say a man shot early Monday morning has died.

According to Harrison County Administrative Deputy Jay Webb, 911 dispatchers took a call at about 7:50 a.m. regarding a shooting at a home in the 500 block of Appaloosa Ln. Webb says the caller stated that she had just shot 51-year-old Marc Mathison twice, and needed an ambulance and deputies.

Webb said Mathison died from his injuries at Good Shepherd Medical Center at 9:15 a.m. on Monday.

According to a statement released Monday morning, Mathison had been arrested for the offense of retaliation in October, and was arrested in Gregg County during the same period for aggravated assault and weapons offenses.

The name of the woman is not being released at this time. She is being interviewed by authorities and the investigation is ongoing.
