SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
The Sabine Parish coroner says a 32-year-old woman was hit and killed while walking along La Hwy 474 just outside the city limits of Florien early Sunday afternoon.
Ron Rivers says Shellie Paige Bozeman of Florien was walking westbound when she was struck by a westbound Toyota 4Runner.
The driver told authorities that she did not see anything or anybody on the roadway when all of the sudden, she heard the impact to her vehicle. Not knowing what she had hit, she traveled down the road and turned around, returning to the impact site. That's where she discovered a shoe on the side of the road and realized the she had struck a pedestrian.
Bozeman was located about 14 feet off of the roadway, and had suffered what Rivers describes as massive injuries.
Rivers says Bozeman was wearing a beige shorts and a gray shirt and was walking in the same direction of traffic. The name of the driver has not been released.
Bozeman's body will be taken to University Health in Shreveport for an autopsy, where standard toxicology testing will be done.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
