RALEIGH, N.C. -

The General Assembly will be facing down a lot of frustrated teachers when it gets back in session.

The General Assembly want big changes made to get the state at the top when it comes to education.

The Wake County North Carolina Association of Educators wants to tackle each issue one by one.

Five weeks from now, the General Assembly will be back in session and that’s why parents, teachers, and lawmakers from Wake County gathered at a public town hall meeting Wednesday to relay their biggest concerns.

Six members of the General Assembly were present to hear directly about what needs to change.

Teacher pay, testing, and the Common Core Curriculum were part of the discussion.

“We want to make sure people who are legislators hear our stories before they go back to work and that our folks see the folks who make the policy and have an idea of just what that looks like,” said Wake County NCAE President Larry Niles.

Some of those present felt like it was a productive discussion and hopes the meeting will somehow inspire legislators to enact change come May.
