MILLER COUNTY, AR (KSLA) -

A man charged with molesting a child is behind bars Wednesday in Southwest Arkansas after police searched for him most of the day.

Henry Smith, 39 of Fouke, AR turned himself in to authorities in mid-afternoon and was booked on a single charge of second degree sexual assault of a child.

"Smith's predacious appetite for the innocence of a child makes him extremely dangerous," said Miller County Chief Deputy Dewayne White.

Police began investigating Smith several weeks earlier after receiving a tip. Smith was apparently using social media as a way to communicate with his alleged victim, police said.

"We created ourselves of portrayed ourselves as a small child or a young child which he quickly began interest in or took an interest in," White said.

"Parents are encouraged to be intrusive when it comes to their children's social media, emails and other electronic medians to ensure they, too, are not falling victims to this predator."

Call the Miller County Sheriff's Office at 870-774-3001 if you have more information about Smith or other victims.
