LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -
LeTourneau University is not known for breaking world records, but on Friday, they gave it a shot.
They gathered 108 computers, 108 3-D printers, and 108 students, and tried to get at least 50 of them running at the same time.
One of the most interesting things about the attempt, was the fact that many of the printers, were made by other printers the students put together themselves.
"These are all student-made, with things that were student-made," said Dr. Jesse French, who's a mechanical engineering professor at LeTourneau. "So you have some fourth great-grandchildren of the printers sitting here today."
And the students were successful, getting 102 of the 3-D printers working at the same time. Copyright 2014 KLTV. All rights reserved.
