Services scheduled for former KSLA weatherman Al Bolton

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Funeral services have been scheduled for legendary KSLA weatherman and announcer Al Bolton.

The 88-year-old died Wednesday morning. He joined KSLA one month after the station went on the air in 1954 and stayed for more than 35 years.

"I just had a great desire to get into broadcasting, particularly television," he said. "I asked to do the weather, and they say, ‘You can have it," Bolton recalled during an interview marking KSLA's 50th anniversary in 2004.

The viewing is planned for 7 p.m. April 7 at Osborne Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Ave. The funeral service is tentatively set for 1 p.m. April 8 at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr.

Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave.
