SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Funeral services have been scheduled for a Shreveport teen who died last month after the bicycle he was riding was hit by a car.

D'Various Magee, 16, was hit March 28 after police say he may have ignored a stop sign at the intersection of E. 79th St. and Thornhill Avenue. The car that hit him was a Ford Taurus driven by Tatiana Johnson.

Magee died the next day after suffering a severe brain injury.

Neighbors who did not want to be identified said Magee was showing off his new bicycle and how fast it was that afternoon, just minutes before they saw him crash with the Taurus.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. April 7 at the New Vision Community church on Flournoy Lucas Road. Viewing will begin at 3 p.m.

An account has been set up to help Magee's family finance funeral expenses. Donations can be made at any Community Bank of Louisiana in Shreveport, but the Walker Road location is preferred.
