NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The investigation surrounding the deaths of a Reserve couple is intensifying.

The bodies of Lakeitha and Kenneth Joseph were pulled from the Intracoastal Waterway last month.

New details have now emerged about how the couple died. The couple went missing back in February and since their disappearance, the case has taken many twists and turns.

Nearly a month after they vanished, Lakeitha Joseph's body popped up in the Intracoastal Waterway. The search continued for her husband and then on March 22, a fisherman spotted Kenneth Joseph's body.

An autopsy revealed the two drowned.

A source tells FOX 8, both Lakeitha and Kenneth were bound by their feet with a blue nylon rope before they drowned in the waterway.

The source says Kenneth's body was found with a weight tied to the nylon rope.

They say it appeared the rope used on Lakeitha's feet somehow broke free from the weight.

The St. John Parish Sheriff's Office said the couple borrowed a silver 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan prior to their disappearance. The van was later found in a suburban Atlanta parking lot nine days later on February 28.

Sources say traces of blood were found inside the van.
