BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A Barksdale airman is helping provide comfort to children who are involved in stressful emergency situations.

Bossier City first responders often hand out stuffed toys to kids during fires, car wrecks and other situations that can distress little ones. Sr. Airman Christine Blanco, who is part of the 2nd Medical Supply Squadron at Barksdale AFB, recently gathered 150 stuffed animals and donated them to the Bossier City police and fire departments.

The toys were delivered Monday and will be placed in patrol cars and fire department vehicles. First responders can give them to children during emergencies as a way to soothe them.

Blanco collected the toys from the Barksdale community for a leadership project she is part of.
