TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

A five-car wreck killed one man and injured 2 others Monday morning in the Liberty Eylau community of Texarkana.

James Lamb, 51 died at the scene of W. 7th Street (Hwy. 67) in front of Daniel's Used Tires.

Police said he was trying to make a left turn into the parking area of his employer when his car was hit from behind by a Chevy Equinox, which was then hit by a Blue Bell Ice Cream truck. That chain reaction knocked into oncoming traffic.

Lamb's car was then hit by another car and that car was struck by a pickup truck.

Airiel James saw the wreck that happened in front of her home.

"I mean it was a chain reaction one hit another and another and they all came together," she said. "I mean it was bad."

Lamb was headed in to work at a mechanic shop that leases space in the tire shop building when it happened. He had reportedly only been working there for 2 weeks.

"I took off to the accident and got the lady out of the black SUV," James said. "That is all I could do."

The mechanic shop closed for the day because of Lamb's death. Troy Daniels, the owner of the tire shop says wrecks have happened there before and there needs to be a turn lane.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
