SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) -

A day after the Texas Department of Public Safety added his name to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders, a 39-year-old man turned himself in to the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office Tuesday morning.

Eric Lapaul Mosby, of San Augustine, is still being held in the San Augustine County Jail. No bail has been set at this time. According to a notice that a DPS spokesman sent to Detective J.B. Smith of the Lufkin Police Department, the arrest was not the result of a tip, so no reward will be paid.

On Monday, the DPS sent out a notice stating that Mosby had been added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list. The notice said that a cash reward of up to $5,000 was being offered for any information leading to his arrest.

According to the DPS notice, Mosby has ties to several East Texas towns, including San Augustine, Nacogdoches.

His criminal history includes sexual assault of a child, failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, and aggravated assault, according to the DPS notice.

Mosby was convicted in 1997 for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. Since 2007, he has been arrested multiple times for failure to register as a sex offender. This violent criminal past has led him to being wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration, tampering with a governmental record, and probation violation.
