Missing 12-year-old Shreveport girl found safe by her family

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The family's search for a missing 12-year-old Shreveport girl has ended with a sigh of relief.  Kaaryn Young was found safe and sound Sunday afternoon after family and friends began passing out flyers of the girl's picture.

Family and friends organized a search of their neighborhood and circulated Kaaryn's picture, in hopes of getting information on her whereabouts.

The effort paid off when the girl was found a few blocks from home. Family members say she told them she had been "hanging out with friends." The girl appeared to be unharmed.

Police had asked the public for help in findng Kaaryn, who had not been seen or heard from since around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when she was seen leaving a friend's house in the 2900 block of West College Street.
