MINDEN, LA (KSLA) -

A Monroe man is behind bars after taking police on a high-speed chase through Minden last week, at times topping more than 100 miles per hour.

Police said Trederrius Fields, 17, was charged with multiple traffic violations March 13 after refusing to stop for police, even at gunpoint. It all started when Fields drove his 2006 Chevrolet Impala the wrong way down Sibley Road, and Webster Parish sheriffs tried to make pull him over when he turned onto Abney Street.

According to a sheriff's report, officers then tried to stop Fields, with one deputy holding out a gun and ordering him to stick both hands out of the car window. Fields refused and took off, with three Minden police cars and two sheriffs tailing, sirens blaring.

Fields' car ducked into oncoming traffic several times on Union Street breaking multiple traffic laws at speeds over 117 miles per hour. At one point, Fields, who police said does not have a valid driver's license, tried to run a deputy off Shreveport Road.

The chase came to and end in the Village of Dixie Inn when Fields crashed into a light pole.

He was taken into custody and is being held at the Webster Parish Jail. Charges on his booking report include aggravated flight, driving the wrong way on a one way street, not using a turn signal, not having a valid driver's license and running a stop sign. Bond has not yet been listed.
