The 38th Annual World Championship Ice Racing Series Grand Finale is coming to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena on March 21 at 7:30 p.m.

And Jason Griffin, of Easley, will be one of the racers bringing his bike off the dirt track and onto the ice.

"It's a lot of fun, good entertainment," said Jason Griffin.

Griffin is a back to back American Motorcycle Association champion. But, it wasn't until tragedy struck that he decided to race.

In 2004, Griffin's brother, John, died of alcohol poisoning. John was the racer in the family which is how Griffin got into the sport.

"I took his bike and became a Christian at the same time. All that kind of happened in one swoop." "When I knew God was real I knew that there was no doubt in my mind what I could do," explained Griffin.

One thing you should know; Griffin is missing his right arm.

"We were trying to come up with a new nickname and the one arm bandit seems to be the one that sticks," explained Griffin.

It's not stopped him from winning championships and racing on the ice.

"It amazes me, I believe in miracles. I don't really know how else to explain it."

Another feeling Griffin can't really explain, is going around a turn, racing nine other bikes on ice.

He said it's all about determination.

"If you want to do something bad enough, combine with the faith, the spiritual factor and believing that there's something out there that's helping you along, that right there is enough can move mountains with that," said Griffin."

You can catch Griffin on his #23 Honda.
