PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

Police are investigating the theft and burning of a Many, LA woman's car found last weekend in the river bottoms near Deadwood, TX.

On March 9, the Panola County sheriffs found a car burning on County Road 448, a sand road that runs near the Sabine River, said Panola Chief Deputy John Depresca.

Shreveport police confirmed the car was stolen from a parking garage at the Sleep Inn & Suites on Pines Road in Shreveport on March 8.

Panola County sheriffs said they don't yet have any suspects in the burning of the black 2011 Ford Fusion, but they are looking into the arson.

"It certainly was a hot fire," Depresca said, adding that his department contacted Sabine Parish sheriffs to alert them to the situation. At the time, Sabine was already investigating the theft, he said.

Anyone with information regarding this suspected arson is asked to contact the Panola County Sheriff's Office at 903-693-0333.
