COVINGTON, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A Covington woman's roof snapped right down the middle last week due to snow and ice buildup. Insurance adjusters say she cannot live in her home until it is repaired.

Ms. Sue Ferrell has to lift up a tarp in order to enter and exit her home.

"I'm sad, my home. It's been mine for 43 years and now look at it," she said.

Ferrell never thought mother nature would force her out.

"I was just about asleep and I heard this racket. It sounded like a bunch of animals or something fighting, but then when I got to the window, I found it was something else," she explained.

"Never thought it'd happen to me either, but we're all safe and I got good insurance," she added.

"I'm gonna get lots of new things in there," she laughed. "It'll look like a difference place maybe."

While Ferrell and her friends continue their cleanup, they are also keeping their fingers crossed nothing like this ever happens again.
