Mayoral hopeful Sam Jenkins has decided not to run in this fall's elections.
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Shreveport Councilman Sam Jenkins has decided not to run in this fall's citywide election, citing personal reasons for bowing out of the mayoral race.
"I could pretend otherwise," he said in a statement made Thursday afternoon. "But the truth is there are presently issues in my life that do now, and would continue to, distract from my potential candidacy. I care too much about the future of our city, my family and friends to move forward with a race for mayor."
Jenkins thanked his supporters and encouraged candidates to campaign on the issues, quality of life and the future of Shreveport.
