NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - There were 895 arrests during the 2014 Mardi Gras season, beginning on Feb. 21, and ending Tuesday, March 4, according to Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office says of the arrests, 440 were made on state charges, 330 on municipal and 125 on traffic violations.
Charges included lewd conduct, public drunkenness,
disturbing the peace and other municipal charges, to more serious violations,
including state charges like drug arrests and violent crimes.
